Todd Shollenberger

Laboratory Manager

In Todd’s role at Colorado State University, he is advancing the establishment of two state-of-the-art laboratories dedicated to water research and biomanufacturing at the CSU Spur campus: Water Technology Accelerator Platform (Water TAP) and Bioprocessing Laboratory. His responsibilities encompass coordinating technical activities, scheduling, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of both facilities.

Research Interests

Todd has several key interests including waste to energy, anaerobic digestion, water policy and re-use in the Western US, community waste reduction development programs, and economic brokering of renewable energy credits. He enjoys personal hobbies such as mountaineering, rock climbing, backpacking, fitness, travel and anything imaginable with his wife, son and two dogs. 

During his tenure as a scientist at Terumo BCT, he gained valuable insights into regulatory compliance procedures and medical device technology applications while being a part of the Scientific Affairs team. At the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, a significant portion of Todd’s time was dedicated to screening large sample sets for the Bioenergy Science Center (BESC) program. Additionally, he actively participated in waste-to-energy projects for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO). During his experience at Gevo, a next-generation biofuel startup, Todd was exposed to the complexities of technology scale-up, industrial plant practices, and the influence of external factors on project success such commodities markets and environmental sourcing.
