COLORADO STORMWATER CENTER
Advancing stormwater management
through training, innovation
and applied research
Administered by the One Water Solutions Institute, the Center supports communities, consultants, and public agencies across the state in improving water quality through practical education and applied research.
We provide state-recognized training and certification programs, develop science-based guidance and resources, and partner with public and private organizations to advance the design, implementation, and maintenance of effective stormwater control measures (SCMs).
We advance effective stormwater management across Colorado by providing high-quality training, certification, and applied research that empower professionals to protect water quality, support resilient infrastructure, and strengthen community stewardship.
Center-certified stormwater professionals across Colorado (2025)
Professional development training hours issued by the Center (2024-2025)
We conduct an array of online trainings, certification courses and in-person workshops to advance our scientific understanding of water resources management, technologies, practices, and policies.
The One Water Solutions Institute and Colorado Stormwater Center are housed in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University. Our team combines expertise across stormwater engineering, green infrastructure, hydrology, water quality, and urban systems to advance practical solutions that improve watershed health and community resilience.
The Center is headquartered at the CSU Spur Hydro building in Denver, serving as a hub for statewide education, training, and applied research in stormwater management. From this location, we deliver hands-on professional certification programs, support field monitoring and pilot projects, and collaborate with partners across Colorado to translate science into practice.
The CSU Spur campus amplifies our impact through its Water Technology Accelerator Platform (Water TAP) —a “plug-and-play” testbed for water innovation. The Center contributes to this ecosystem by demonstrating sustainable urban water systems, developing data-driven design tools, and engaging practitioners, students, and the public in advancing stormwater management for a more resilient Colorado.
